SmartTerminal installation involves securely mounting the unit, connecting it to the FACP via RS485 communication, setting the device address, and verifying operational states.Mechanical InstallationThe SmartTerminal is supplied in an ABS cabinet with a main card, termination board, and door keys. Begin by removing the front door to access the boards and knockouts safely, using a flat broad-bladed screwdriver to avoid damaging the enclosure . Mount the chassis securely to the wall using the three keyhole mounting holes (two at the top, one at the bottom) with screws and plugs appropriate for the surface type . Ensure the unit is level and firmly fixed.Electrical ConnectionsConnect the SmartTerminal to the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) using shielded RS485 communications cable and a 24VDC power supply . The termination board (BRD82LTB) connects to the main control board (BRD82ICC2) via CN1. Additional connections include monitored outputs, relays, and auxiliary inputs as required. Ensure proper polarity and shielding to prevent communication errors.Addressing and ConfigurationSet the SmartTerminal address using the PREVIOUS (A-) and NEXT (A+) keys on the front panel. The default address is 255, which is invalid; select a value between 1 and 30 to match the FACP configuration . Once the address is set, the SmartTerminal will communicate with the FACP and transition to the normal operational state.Operational StatesThe SmartTerminal operates in three states:Power Up – hardware initialization and LCD startup.Normal – communicates with the FACP, reports events, and allows local control via front panel keys.Fault – indicates communication failure or hardware issues .Safety and Best PracticesRemove knockouts carefully to avoid enclosure damage.Use proper cable shielding and grounding to prevent interference.Limit the number of SmartTerminals on a single RS485 bus to 30 units over 1.2 km maximum distance .Enable operational access via the key-switch to prevent unauthorized control.
